Design of a 1200 TDW Bulk Cargo Vessel |
Client: Un-disclosed. A major shipping company in India |
Our client has a clear mission - to build and operate a vessel that can carry bulk cargo between two minor ports and also have the flexibility to ply the National Waterways. This means that there is draught restriction (2 meters) and a length restriction (60 m). To add to that the vessel speed must be at least 8 knots with minimum power. This means that we have to optimize the hull to meet this stringent requirements. To validate the lines, we are doing a model test at IIT Madras.
This concept was made possible because of the new regulations that was issued by DG Shipping to promote domestic shipping - the ICSS [Code of Safety for Indian Coastal Ships] Code.
This vessel satisfies the requirements of this code and is classified with IRS. Once this vessel is built, she will be one of the largest vessels to ply the National waterway-III.
